Machine Listening

After supplementing Irv Teibel's legendary field recording series with the speculative 'Environments 12', artist-researchers Sean Dockray, James Parker, and Joel Stern set about skewering "automatic music" with 'Songs About Fucking Suno', a tongue-in-cheek set of AI-generated skits that take aim at the world of corporate tech. Billed as a platform for collective research and artistic experimentation, Machine Listening was established in 2020 and operates across disciplines, from performance and curation to software development and writing. They've exhibited in various galleries across Australia and Europe, and continue to examine the political and aesthetic dimensions of the computation of sound and speech.
