Unexpected encounters and performances. Ephemera in Warsaw in just two months

2025-04-17
We are less than two months away from the first days of summer and the sixth edition of Ephemera – a time of transition, initiation, and communal experience. From 11 June, a series of events that transcend the mundane will unfold in some of Warsaw’s most unique and unexpected venues – suspended between sound and movement, presence and intuition, the real and the invisible. Meanwhile, the festival program welcomes more exceptional guests.
The opening event – BAL W OPERZE on 11 June, echoing the rites of passage of yore – will feature Miłosz Kędra and his handmade organ, built from pipes reclaimed from temples across the Greater Poland region. The instrument, steeped in sacral tradition, will be transformed and released from its liturgical context. Its new life – raw, minimalist, and based on bespoke tuning – will flourish on the threshold between the corporeal and the ephemeral. Physical reconstruction and digital deconstruction will merge in a sonic ritual. Miłosz will perform alongside previously announced acts: LEYA and Sofie Birch & Antonina Nowacka.
Tickets for this event, as well as a limited number of festival passes, are still available via Resident Advisor.
Ephemera is also a space for uncanny collaborations and encounters that echo the rites of summoning – shared storytelling, hauntings, and revelations. During WAGARY at Komuna Warszawa, Alex Freiheit and Aleksandra Słyż will conjure the eerie aura of a haunted hotel. GHSTING marks their first collaboration: Freiheit’s herstories, charged with shamanic energy, meet Słyż’s intense, multilayered compositions to form a sonic narrative imbued with tension and presence. Unpredictable and full of experimentation, balancing between chaos and precision - this is what you can expect from the performance of the UK band Still House Plants. The trio keeps the brittle DIY skeleton of iconic bands like Shellac and Slint intact, but flesh it out with confident contemporary production tricks and unmistakable nods to R&B, experimental electronic music and UK garage. Also performing: Six Sex; Marek Pospieszalski with Julian Sartorius and Artur Rumiński.
The otherworldly line-up of the festival’s crown jewel – the late-night club party featuring Danny L Harle, aya, LSDXOXO, Veronicami, Some Guest & Oldyungmayn – fuses the queer energy of the KEM collective with Ephemera’s ritual magic. DRAGANA BAR – an evening celebrating the body, the senses, and community – expands to include performative acts that serve as modern-day spells and somatic invocations. Ewa Dziarnowska will explore the poetic dimension of dance and its sensuality, expressed through non-linear, almost trance-like movements. We’re also thrilled to welcome queer performance icon Leon Dziemaszkiewicz to Dragana – and to Warsaw – for the very first time. Also making their Ephemera debut is Rafał Pierzyński – Divas, who will lead the audience into a ritual dance performance, awaking our kinetic sensitivity and collective imagination.
