Ephemera Festival opens at the majestic Grand Theatre – Polish National Opera, one of the city’s most iconic cultural venues, renowned for its monumental neoclassical architecture, vast stage, exceptional acoustics, and lush interiors.

Polish composer and pianist Hania Rani – winner of the European Composer Award for her score to Sentimental Value – will present the Polish premiere of Shining. Inspired by minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass, the piece unfolds through hypnotic patterns and luminous textures. Rani will perform Shining with Hashtag Ensemble, featuring Vitaly Appow (bassoon) and Joanna Wydmuch (French horn).

The evening will also feature the Grammy-winning Pakistani vocalist Arooj Aftab. Blending classical South Asian vocal traditions with jazz, minimalism, and delicate electronics, her deeply atmospheric songs have earned international acclaim. Her album Vulture Prince brought her global recognition, including a Grammy Award, and she has since performed at major venues and festivals around the world. This will be her first concert in Warsaw.
