Hania Rani & Hashtag Ensemble present Shining
Polish pianist and composer Hania Rani has been turning heads for over a decade. Now best known for her work on 'Sentimental Value', the cult Norwegian film that won Cannes' prestigious Grand Prix award in 2025 as well as the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, she is as informed by her classical training as she is by her passion for electronic and experimental sounds, as evidenced by her synth-heavy Chilling Bambino productions and her collaborations with artists such as Ólafur Arnalds and Valentina Magaletti. Last year, Rani released her first piano concerto, the politically charged 'Non Fiction' which premiered at the Barbican in London, and 2026 has already been kind - her 'Sentimental Value' score won her the Best Composer prize at the European Film Awards.
During Ephemera, Hania Rani presents the Polish premiere of 'Shining', a composition inspired by the 20th century minimalist composers Steve Reich and Philip Glass, performed together with Warsaw’s Hashtag Ensemble, featuring Vitaly Appow (bassoon) and Joanna Wydmuch (French horn).
