Established as a way to balance out the impulsive, unpredictable power of free improv with the technique of using the studio as a compositional aid, Yannis Patoukas and Mathijs Leeuwis's collaboration is rooted in their knowledge of electroacoustic music and their understanding that techniques and practices that have supposedly been superseded aren't always artistically bankrupt. Via a series of residencies, the duo have developed music that's both site specific and charmingly unstable, examining history, context and cultural evolution at a time when all of those concepts are threatened.
