Oldyungmayn might be based in Berlin, but the Palestinian-Egyptian DJ and producer isn't interested in following the German dancefloor's expected Eurocentric pulse. Making connections between classic soundsystem music and the plethora of interconnected sounds emerging from the Middle Eastern underground, Oldyungmayn has carved out a unique niche for himself, collaborating with hard dance hybridist Estoc on last year's pneumatic 'Strike / Grapple' and contributing full-spectrum mixes to platforms such as Al Gharib, NTS, Refuge and CRACK.
Some Guest has done it all. Shuffle through his early releases and you'll hear taut minimal techno and dusty 2-step bashing against hard drum and classic jungle. Last year's energetic 'Motorolla Mixtape' was a unique take on Latin Tek, and its follow-up 'Sharp Objects' integrated its predecessor's neck snapping syncopations with muscular donks and, most unexpectedly, filtered French funk. So when the Jasna1 resident and Narocz13 and Zejście co-founder is in front of the decks, expect the same level of hybridity and hyperactivity.
