Beginning her career in the late 1980s training as a geisha, an experience she documented in her first book, 'Oshakuchan No. 1', Hanayo Nakajima is an artist, writer, photographer, actor and musician who has spent the last few decades challenging perceptions. She's worked with revolutionary musical acts like The Black Dog, Merzbow and Terre Thaemlitz and in 2002 covered Vanessa Paradis' breakout single, 'Joe le taxi', turning it into a cult club hit in the process.
