Now based in London, Danish composer and viola player Astrid Sonne has evolved considerably since releasing her psychedelic, synth-laced 2018 debut 'Human Lines'. Her most recent album 'Great Doubt', that appeared earlier this year, unveils her voice for the first time, wilting sparse, vulnerable (and sometimes tongue-in-cheek) lyrics over trip-hop-inspired rhythms and delicate chamber pop instrumentation. It's an open-hearted approach that expertly counterbalances high and low culture, forming a complex, ambiguous pattern in the process.
