Keeley Forsyth(UK)
Keeley Forsyth presents tracks from her new album ‘The Hollow’, out 10 May via 130701/FatCat Records. Her performance at Ephemera follows an acclaimed Unsound 2023 show at Kraków Philharmonic Hall.
Keeley Forsyth is a singer, composer and actor from Oldham in the UK. A mainstay of British primetime television since the mid-90s, she debuted her distinct, weighty style of music in 2020 with the album ‘Debris’. A perfectly-formed album of beguiling and experimental minimalist songs that stands up to comparisons with Scott Walker and Nico. It was followed by the startling ‘Limbs’ two years later, a languid, late-Talk Talk style meditation that blossoms and blooms in the live arena. Considering that she cites influences such as playwright Samuel Beckett, director Béla Tarr, and choreographer Pina Bausch, it is no surprise that her performances are strikingly physical displays just as they are demonstrations of her singular voice. ‘The Hollow’ (2024) expands on Forsyth’s exceptional aural worldbuilding – evident to any who wander into the range of her unique voice. It moves her signature sound into the electronic realm, and features a stunning collaboration with Colin Stetson.
She performs with Ross Downes on electronics, multi-instrumentalist Matthew Bourne, Warsaw cellist and label mate Resina and projections by video artist Netia Jones.
